Saint John Sights - The Infusion Tearoom
49
In Saint John and a fan of tea? Then take some time to visit The Infusion Tearoom, located conveniently uptown next to City Market. Whether you're just visiting the city for a day or whether you've lived here for years, this little place should definitely be on your list of places to drop by for a drink.
I've been visiting The Infusion since shortly after it opened, and I have yet to be disappointed by a visit there. The staff are friendly and polite, and some of them know me by sight and stop to chat with me when I come in. It's the kind of place that really makes a person feel welcome, and the warmth inside doesn't just come from the presence of delicious hot drinks.
I think there's a tea on the menu to suit just about everybody's taste. I've visited The Infusion with people who don't like tea, and even they've found something there that they like to drink. But for those who can't find any kind of tea, green or black or herbal blend, to suit their tastes, there are a few coffee beverages available too, or hot chocolate or fruit juice, too.
The meals on the menu don't just come from huge frozen batches, either. Everything is made right there in the kitchen, giving you a real sense of a good homecooked meal without having to cook it yourself. Their beef stew is a favourite of mine, but they've always got something interesting on their daily specials menu.
But if you don't fancy any of the daily specials, they do have a steady menu of sandwiches and sweets available. I personally recommend the grilled ham and swiss cheese with apples. It may sound like a strange combination, but the wholesome taste of the ham and cheese combined with the crisp sweetness of apples is wonderful, and definitely worth trying.
One of the best things about this place (aside from convenient location and a huge variety of teas to choose from, that is) is the fact that during the warmer months they have an outdoor sitting area with tables, so that you can enjoy your meal and drink in the fresh air, with the sight of King Square just over your shoulder.
Definitely worth checking out if you're in the city and want a good meal and a good hot drink. Chances are you may see me sitting there with a book and a cup of Prince of Wales tea on the table in front of me!
